The Grand Priory
of the
Sovereign Realm of Scotland
Welcome to The Poor Knights of Christ and of the Temple of Solomon, Grand Priory of Scotland, Scottish Knights Templar website. As Scottish Knights Templar previously comprising the Grand Priory of Scotland of the Sovereign Military Order of the Temple of Jerusalem (SMOTJ), but now wholly autonomous, we are an ecumenical, non-masonic Order focused upon service to humanity. In honourable and dedicated service, we seek to pursue the following aims and objectives;
Actively foster and encourage ongoing good relations between all through the encouraging of open communications and participation in projects and events of merit and substance.
Attempt to resolve conflict, large and small, through a process of mediation designed to guide conflicting sides to a better understanding of each other's position and points-of-view so as to encourage and foster a strong spirit of tolerance.
Promote service to one's own community - the active promotion of the spirit of community and togetherness
Actively seek to assist those in need within one's own community.
Foster a strong willingness and sense of obligation to look beyond the boundaries of the personal community to the broader community internationally and within which a we must strive to affliate with others of a like-mind so as to strengthen ties, foster goodwill so as to be able to parttake in the actions necessary to alleviate not only pain and suffering through charitable and humanitarian actions but to assist in the encouraging of a spirit of conciliation between disagreeing factions and the instilling of the concept of a common responsibility by all to the wider notion of togetherness.
Further, we undertake to;
Promote the Christian faith within a tolerant non-biased ecumenical framework.
Promote the values of a spiritual life and the benefits which are to be attained from such.
Seek to foster and sustain good relations with, and between all churches and creeds.
Actively promote religious tolerance.
Service to the Order

No-one should be admitted to the Order who does not have a sufficient level of dedication required to become actively involved in the pusuit of the aims of the Order. Dedicated service to the Order and an understanding and firm acceptance of the responsibility to the Order and fellow Knights is a paramount requirement so that the objectives can be properly and professionally achieved. To all true Knights of the Temple, the "Order" is to whom our ultimate loyalty lies as opposed to any individual. As brothers we stand and in defence of the objectives of our "Order" we shall fall if it is the Will of our Lord whom we serve.
Members of the Poor Knights of Christ, Scottish knights templar, convene on, at least, four occasions during the year for Formal Conclave at our official seat in the historic town of Stirling, located near to the famous Battle of Bannockburn in Central Scotland at which all matters relevant and pertaining to Preceptory and Priory business are discussed with more informal meetings being held throughout the year as and when required. As an overall entity, the Order gather together to celebrate/commemorate certain important events in the Templar calendar namely ;
March- Festival of the Martyrs
April- Auld Alliance Dinner
August- Festival of Saint Bernard of Clairvaux
September- Ecumenical Service and Accolade
November- Saint Andrew's Day Service

In-line with our illustrious 12th century founders, dressed in White Mantles with the Red Eight-Pointed Star on the breast, members of the Order are easily recognisable and we welcome and embrace the worthy who wish to join our ranks. If you would like to learn more then without bind or obligation, we ask you to contact the Order directly for further information.
The Order seeks to align itself with charities and organisations of good standing so as to be able to participate and assist in the proper implementation of larger projects. We shall also from time-to-time implement projects designed to enhance and foster community spirit and to assist those who have fallen on hard times not merely by cash hand-out but by offering participation with others in projects of merit within their own communities so as to reinstill a sense of worth and pride in the individual and a sense of belonging in their own community.
The Order Internationally

Good work can be achieved by the Order within Scotland but it must also broaden it's scope and look outwards to participate with others of a like-mind and shared values on an international scale. It is by virtue of this that the necessity of an "Order" within today's society becomes more especially relevant. Priories working on their own initiative within their own environs have the capacity to achieve a great deal but an international dimension and active participation in a far greater Order-at-large will allow so much more to be achieved and will give the Order overall a far greater voice in areas of greatest concern in-line with it's objective to serve humanity.
We recognize all the other Knights Templar Orders of good standing both here in Scotland and outwith and with whom we seek to align ourselves in common cause and Holy Commitment to serve the Lord Jesus Christ with all our heart and soul which we undertake not for riches nor for vanity or glory but through a strong will and desire to assist and help others worldwide in a private way, without need for recognition.
We hold , therefore, that true Templar Orders are those that do not discriminate on the basis of educational, financial, or social status, and are those that are concerned with the requirements of those most in need.
At present the Order has established Priories, Bailiwicks, Commanderies, Preceptories and Chivalry in the following countries:
Scotland England
U.S.A. Nigeria Canada New Zealand
Italy Australia
